Goods Entering Australia – General Information
Customs And Department Of Agriculture, Fisheries, And Forestry
All consignments entering Australia must be declared to the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (Customs) and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry – Biosecurity* (DAFF).
This information is then risk assessed by Customs and DAFF, prior to border clearance being granted.
Both Customs and DAFF reserve the right to request the provision of additional information from an air express carrier such as DHL Express, such as evidence of payment, and may also physically inspect goods to verify contents and assess risk in accordance with their internal policy guidelines.
In the case of DAFF inspections, where the goods are examined and subsequently released, a DHL Express fee** will be charged to recover costs incurred in connection with DAFF inspections.
